Why this comparison exists
Wholesale Pricing Discount (WPD), by Wholesale Helper, is widely considered the most comprehensive wholesale solution on Shopify. It does a lot. Whether that is what you need is the question this post answers.
Side-by-side
| TagTier | Wholesale Pricing Discount (WPD) | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $29/mo (Free for dev stores) | $25/mo |
| Top tier price | Higher tier coming soon | $80/mo |
| Time to first published rule | ~20 min | Hours, sometimes days |
| Footprint | Focused: tag → price tier | Broad: tiers + lock + signup + NET terms |
| Depends on Shopify Scripts | No | Partial |
| Wholesale-only lock features | No | Yes |
| Wholesale signup form | No | Yes |
| NET terms support | No (use native B2B) | Yes |
| Recharge subscriber pricing | Yes — first-class | Yes |
| Audit log + 1-click rollback | Yes | No |
Where WPD wins
- You want the kitchen sink. WPD bundles wholesale lock, signup forms, NET terms, and tier pricing in one app. If you specifically want all of those things in one tool, WPD will get you further faster.
- Your wholesale book is the entire business. If you are wholesale-first, the broader feature surface is an asset, not bloat.
- You're already on WPD. No good reason to migrate if it works.
Where TagTier wins
- You only need pricing logic. Your wholesale customers might be managed in NetSuite or a separate B2B platform; you just need Shopify to charge the right price. TagTier is the focused tool for that. WPD is overkill.
- You are running a hybrid store — DTC + wholesale + subscribers + VIP — rather than a pure wholesale shop. WPD's lock features actively get in your way; TagTier's tag model just works.
- You want a clean, modern admin. WPD's UI shows its age; TagTier ships an admin built in 2026, not 2018.
- Audit + rollback. Same point as the Bold comparison — when something breaks at the pricing layer, you want to roll back without a developer.
- No Shopify Scripts dependency. WPD is partway through their Scripts-to-Functions migration. TagTier never used Scripts, so the June 30, 2026 deadline doesn't affect you.
Honest recommendation
If you need wholesale signup forms, NET terms, and lock features in one app: install WPD. If you just need price tiers and want it tight, fast, and modern: install TagTier. The good news: both are Free or cheap to evaluate on a dev store, so you can install both, build a single rule, and pick.
